4 stars One of the five solo albums from Yes members released at that time and I rank it among the best ones, along with Squire's "Fish out of water" and Anderson's "Olias". Howe did a great job here. He is (kinda) showing off but not in a dry manner some guitarists tend to do. He put his skills in service of the compositions, which are really good and complicated enough for the Yes fans. The guitar is a star here (obviously), but doesn't steal the show. It took me a few listens to fully apreciate intricacy of all the layers of the songs. Some prefer his second solo album, but I like this one more as I find it much more cohesive and more yes-like. Now to vocals - As You can read almost all reviewers here have a problem with Howe's voice. Well, I don't. I see he's not a great singer, but neither is Andy Latimer and it doesn't stop me from liking Camel as well as his voice. Same here - I like what Steve does with his voice as a melodist and I find his timbre realy interesting. I rate this 4-4,5 stars. Well done Steve!
