4 stars Yes, it is Yes. Their 1969 debut album is where it all began. If we didn't have this album, we wouldn't have "Fragile", we wouldn't have "Close To The Edge", and yes, we wouldn't have Yes. Honestly, when i'm listening to this album, i realize that Yes was great from the very beginning. I mean, don't get me wrong, it certainly isn't some prog rock classic, but this is still a great start for the band, a lot better than most band's best albums. Their cover of The Beatles' "Every little thing" is quite nice, i would say it's even better than the original, which is certainly saying a lot when we're talking about The Beatles. "Sweetness", is, well, what can i say, it's a sweet sounding song. "Survival" is honestly, a pure masterpiece of prog rock, almost an epic. I certainly would be lying if i said that this is an essential album for any prog rock collector, but i would certainly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Yes. This would make a great addition to any prog rock collection.
