4 stars "Behind" is the debut album by the Germans Superior, a really interesting band that, like many others of the period, ended up being signed to LMP, the label of R. Limb Schnoor (former manager of Helloween, so much for understand us). The Superior are described as similar to Dream Theater but have a more aggressive sound and the songs are all mid tempo (if not ballads) that focus more on the atmosphere than on the technique (which is also present and not negligible). I honestly can't describe this album song by song. This is due to the production and the mixing that make everything slightly mellow (although, in reality this becomes a virtue here) bringing out the heaviness of the guitars. All on a Hard Rock style that veers towards Power Metal and Doom Metal. The scores of the keyboards are really interesting, as they increase the neoclassical part (otherwise absent) and make the whole thing heavier (even colored, if you pass me the term, because the songs are sometimes very obscure... The sound of the guitars and the production help, in this sense). The singing is good, even if a technical singing is not required and for this reason Michael Tangermann's proof is convincing.

Too bad that after two more albums (which I don't know) Superior broke up because "Behind" is a great debut album (and because I read good reviews of the other two albums). And, in conclusion, if you love European Prog Metal "Behind" is a recommended purchase.
