2 stars Well this album didn't really impress me too much. It has some good moments, a lot of nice instrumental passages, but overall I did not like it too much. The vocals for the most part were your typical ogre grunting black metal vocals, though at the rare times that he sang clean it sounded quite nice. The whispering that appeared several times in the album was very irritating, I did not like that part at all. That being said, there were a lot of good moments, it had many great instrumental passages that sounded nice, a lot of it reminded me of Yes and other classic prog Rock bands. There was also a very nice string arrangement in the first movement. But, with the exception of the good moments, this overall has a very basic typical black metal sound. I would recommend this to those who are into the typical black metal sound and also like a bit of prog too, but for the majority of people who don't, this probably isn't the album for you.
