3 stars Canadian duo ZACHT AUTOMAAT have released a lot of albums in a short time consisting of electronics, keyboards, drums, bass, guitar, samples and more. This particular release is a double album worth of tracks from 11 different albums from 2010 to 2012. So a compilation recording worth over 81 minutes. Very much a hit and miss affair as you can imagine with 27 tracks on display here. There are some guests like the flute on the opener and the drums on "A Trip To See McLean On Holiday" and "Lost In The Peak District" where we also get some guest sax. "Museum Robbery Pt.II, III & IV" is my favourite track on here. The drums and powerful atmosphere separate this one from rest in my opinion. Plus it turns spacey as the drums step aside around 2 minutes in. The spacey winds are cool and it's haunting late. I do like the three part suite called "Voyage". So much of their music is inspired by God's amazing creation so their inspiration will never run out. "Untitled 2" sounds really good with that interesting rhythm section and electronics. Lots of highlights though and this recording would certainly give you a great example of how they sound before you jump into their many records.
