4 stars My first experience with Russian Circles, and quite a good one. Their music is a very nice blend of post-rock atmospherics, guitars reminiscent of post-metal, and somewhat conventional but good drumming. It draws many comparisons, but none really fit- Russian Circles has made a unique and enjoyable style of music. The songs are very engaging, utilizing post-rock's loud-quiet dynamics, alternating between slow parts with sparse guitar notes and heavy ones led by medium-speed distorted guitars. The only problem with this album is the fact that the last five songs don't really sound all too different from one another. So, Station was a good introduction to Russian Circles, and I recommend it to fans of heavy post-rock.
