4 stars I respect Rush. How they reinvented themselves so often. How they didn't go with the flow. Their musicianship. Their constant flow of quality output. They are not nearly my favourite band, prog or else. But I do fully understand how so many have a different opinion on Rush.

Having said all of this, Signals is one of my favourite albums by Rush. The songs are shorter, no longer than 6 minutes 23. They are more straightforward than ever, but they are still having many progressive elements. Especially when we take into account that it's from 1982. A time when prog was considered to be a bad thing. Rush wasn't limited by this notion.

What stands out for me is the brilliant bass and drums, but we shouldn't forget the synth and guitar.

This album gets 4 stars from me. It's one of their best in my book.
