5 stars This is one of MMEB's finest ever albums and the only other MMEB's album that beats it is nightingales & bombers. It took the band some 4 years to reach this stage, and the first glimse of it was on solar fire. Solar fire was a test run in my opinion for the good earth. The good earth contains more better writing and control than solar fire, and if you listen to both albums you can see by the result of the good earth, that this is what the band were aiming to achieve in the first place, and by george they did. I am a big fan of MMEB, and love a lot of there stuff, they are fine musicians, and one of the top bands who can pull of a cover of a song without a shred of a doubt. Solar fire is good, but not in the same class as the good earth. They both have the same feel in parts and could of quite easily of been a double album with the 2 of them, because they are very much in the same recording tecnique and sound. But to me the good earth will always have the edge over solar fire, and i must say that i enjoy both albums. And they paved the way for nightingales & bombers which is a superb album.
