5 stars PAATOS is a Swedish band with musicians from the bands LANDBERK, MORTE MACABRE, PRO-SEED and ÄGG. They have releases a 7" vinyl single with two own compositions: "Perception" and "Tea". The song "Tea" has got lyrics written by the legendary Swedish female folk rock vocalist Turid. She was quite a big name in the Swedish musical movement in the seventies. Reine Fiske and Stefan Dimle of LANDBERK and Johan Wallén and Ricard Nettermalm of ÄGG were playing with Turid in 1999, and after the last concert they decided to continue the collaboration. Together with the female vocalist Petronella Nettermalm they founded PAATOS. The single was recorded live in an analogue studio with Göran Freese (Bo Hansson, Panta Rei etc.) as producer. As usual when it comes to these musicians the result is as good as it can get. The music is mellow and moody progressive rock with beautiful Cello and Mellotron playing. Not surprisingly it's quite close to the music of LANDBERK. The interplay between the guitarist Reine Fiske and the bass player Stefan Dimle is as good as it always has been. The vinyl single is limited to 600 copies. I don't know if there are any copies still available, so hurry up. The band will eventually release a full-length album that was recorded during the summer. As LANDBERK seems to have disbanded, PAATOS is the natural continuation of their music. I can't wait to hear the full-length album!
