2 stars TOO MUCH DOTS!

During listening a new album of overrated American band "Spock´s Beard" I cannot get off a feeling I´ve heard it somewhere before. Of course, these (relative) new bands like Beardfish, Flower Kings, Kaipa (new reincarnation), Transatlantic or, naturally, Spock´s Beard - sounds very similary, partly because some their members circulates here. Therefore they are "as one oak leaf to another".

What about the music? As I have written before, there are too much dots for me. Let see the sense of it: less means more sometimes. Pompous, often even "baroque" arrangements, many keyboards, string quartet, big choir, frequent changes of movement, "deep-going" lyrics and another and another symphonic rock clichés I can find here...

I absolutely don´t know why previous rewievers rates this album so much high. I think 5 stars is rating for GENUINE MASTERPIECE of Prog Music. But this record isn´t masterpiece truly! Brillant played, but without soul. It´s only non-original mixture of easy forgettable melodies. And more: toooooooooo long footage...

I just want to say: I prefere songs based on one simple but inspired riff, easy to remember (e.g. Whole Lotta Love, 21st Century Schizoid Man, Aqualung, Going for The One, almost all of Black Sabbath or Motorpsycho...) Here is the power of music for me, not in the "baroque curlicues". Well, somebody loves Bach, somebody loves Holst... guess who´s my favourite compositor!

I´m sorry but this album is not a milestone of Prog Rock, just another brick in the wall...
