Heart of the Matter
5 stars The instrumental track Sinfonía Lunática opens the proceedings, displaying the sounds and textures to be found onwards: layered dreamy synths, exceptional bass lines, killer electric guitar tone, and fusion-like rythms masterfully commanded by drummer Gonzalo Farrugia. After the symphonic ouverture comes the longest and most elaborated track, Cuando La Duda Se Hace Grande Alrededor, sung by Montesano in the staccato style strongly associated with the sound of Crucis. But there is much more here, since the vocals are tightly embedded in a subtle tapestry of contrapunctual lines: piano, synths, bass and a great guitar solo, all summing up for a truly satisfaying prog moment.

The following two tracks, Desde Que Te Pude Ver and La Última Barrera, are more simple but beautiful songs, being the first one a romantic exercise for classical piano and voice, and the second one a folk tinged tune with colors added by Nito Mestre and María Rosa Yorio on vocal harmonies.

The sixth track, Primer Triunfo, brings back that particular Crucis' charm and rythm, and another fantastic electric guitar solo. Besides, we have two more really good instrumental tracks, Marginado En Un Sueño, and, closing the original album, Homenaje Color Naranja, both delivered by the synths array, with some hint of percussion emerging towards the end of the second one.

The two bonusses are okay.

A flawless pearl.
