5 stars Review #30!

'Moving Pictures' was definitely a turning point in Rush's career. They moved out of the old twenty-minute epics (which I kind of miss) and moved into shorter tracks. The only two long songs on this LP were 'Red Barchetta' and 'The Camera Eye'. The latter was, in fact, the last Rush track to exceed ten minutes. Classic rock anthems like 'Tom Sawyer' and 'Limelight' launched Rush deeper into commercial success, whether they liked it or not. But, ignoring the radio success of this album, it is stellar. Each song feeds into the next beautifully, and although this is not a concept album, per se, each song has an overarching theme. The album cover is awesome, and the triple-entendre it shows and represents is poetic and beautiful, albeit odd. A great album, to say the least.
