DIZZYLUNA

They say DIZZYLUNA, founded in mid 1990s and disbanded a couple of years later, left no official creation whilst they were active but in 2018 their studio-based (partially live) material was compiled and released as their 'official' album veiled in a simple sleeve pic. Very curious what the mystery-shrouded short-lived project recorded, and this compilation could not betray my expectation. Using phrases we have already had a listen to before, launching laidback playings, laughing loudly with punkish explosions, or kicking our b**t with distorted guitar bullets and violent rhythmic phenotypes ... all are quite vivacious and full of jokey playfulness. In "Nanobotz" pranky vibes flooded with nostalgic moments and mischievous tips can be enjoyed massively. Such a mad melodic pattern shooting drastic energy into my inner mind. The opening of the following track "Hot Dog" is also laughable (Te-qui-la!) and crazy saxophones dance in ecstacy all over. What a kink.

Speaking of kink, "Alien landing strip" consists of hotchpotch sound bursts as mentioned above. Muddy avanty antipop melody sculptures and slowtempo skepticism (maybe) against peace and stability break our common sense away. "Liberace Goes West" reminds us of a kind of snitch via Ventures or old-fashioned electric guitar combos, especially in the guitar-oriented melodic streams. Wondering if "Sepultura" is a sort of homage for Sepultura ... we cannot feel any of Sepultura through the soundscape, except megaton-classed heaviness though. Yeah they play strongly only with their intention and it's also impressive. Twisted dissonant atmosphere in "Mizzyluna" is my favourite too. No idea what they thought whilst playing this song but what a charm without any suspicion. Seems like it comes to my mind they simply enjoyed playing it. "The Middle Class Is Shrinking" sounds like they would foresee the current situation full of difficulty, toughness. In the last song "Teach The Fish" symbolic musical progression blows our brain. There is nothing but incredible amusement.
