RAMDAM FATAL

The debut of Ramdam Fatal is a very interesting and unique album. Ultra-Zook united their efforts with a quartet of trombones and violins. They picked up some traditionals fron a region of the south of France, but this is everything but a folk album. The arrangements have transformed them into a kind of avant-jazz with hints of Zeuhl, introduced and commented by the speech of Wilton Maurel, unfortunately in French, for non-French speakers. The track that has definitely conquered my attention is "Como Quo Vai", in which I have found a connection with Gentle Giant, mainly due to syncopated vocals of Clemence Cognet.

Another very interesting track is "La Diabolique" in which there's the most amazing fusion between the folk element brought in by the violins with the electronics of Benjamin Bardiaux's keyboard, the rhytmic section of the other two Ultra-zook masters and the jazzy contribution of the trombones.

Hopefully this won't remain a single episode. This is an album that can appeal to whoever likes even only one of the elements fused into this music: Folk, Canterbury, Jazz, Avant and Zeuhl. An excellent suggestion by our mate Ian (Nogbad_The_bad).
