4 stars Coming out a year after a double-studio album, one could be wary and expect some leftover material from the productive 2006. When I started listening to the album and heard "One more time" I thought how generic and quite non-cohesive it was despite great instrumental moments, I thought it would be my second three-star FK album yet (After Unfold the future). Seeing the next 24-minute track didn't help either. This is quite a stylish hodgepodge with progressive rock, fusion, metal and avantgarde (even thinking of the excellent "Birds and buildings" band that came to release their first album one year later though). By the end of the second track, the band feels tired and not strongly inspired. Then we arrive at a ballad to clear up one's mind and ears. Maybe that helped me because I started enjoying the second half better. "The sum of no reason" finally gives me some pointers around which the track evolves. "Flight 999" is an excellent upbeat progressive number and thankfully, one without vocals. And the final track is for me the best long track here because they really tried to compose and structure their thoughts unlike in the beginning of the album (they would take this direction to a more extent after their hiatus). So I will round it up to 4 stars thanks to the Yes-inspired strong second album.
