MANFRED MANN'S EARTH BAND

Not one of my favorite Manfred Mann albums. This has a lot of very bluesy and R and B numbers on it and not much that is progressive. That would come in later albums. Yes, it has the obligatory Dylan cover, "Please Mrs Henry". "Tribute" is a good insturmental and I also enjoy "California Coastline". After that, I get bored fast. This is not really a Prog album. If you wish to check out some better Manfred Mann, I would look to WATCH, SOLAR FIRE, or NIGHTINGALES AND BOMBERS, all of which are solid Manfred Mann releases. SInce this is their 1st album as the Earth Band, I can cut them some slack. 2 stars, just for real big Manfred Mann's Earth Band fans and collectors.
