4 stars The Soft Machine as I want to remember them.

Remember is the wrong word out here. I should had written "Soft Machine as I like them". This is another one of the post-split up Soft Machine live albums. There are twice as many live albums by them now than studio albums, Rubber Riffs and Alive In Paris included (in the studio albums category). Some of them are duds, Noisette and some others are pure gems.

Much has been written about the music by better people than myself. So I will refer you to their musings. I find it pleasing that Robert Wyatt for a change gets a voice, literary speaking. His vocal contributions to Moon In June and Did It Again puts the dot over the i on two excellent tracks. The opener Eamon Andrews is as usual an excellent track and one of Soft Machine's trademarks. The wild mix of jazz and rock is exhilarating throughout this album. If you ever wanted to know what Soft Machine is all about, this album is one of those live albums you should check out. It is one of my favorite live albums by this band of whom I am a fan off.
