4 stars Comes a time of day when only some jazz/rock fusion will hit the spot....and also when you go to that dusty area of your music shelving (its alphabetic) you find lodged between Agitation Free and Agnes Strange (obscure UK mid 70s hard rock) on one side and Aguaturbia (wild South American late 60s psych) and Ainigma on the other ....just don't blow your cred and mention Airbourne lad and you will have got your prog brownie points....and you pull out the debut from this Italian band and all is as well as it can be with the world!

If I say I could easily have ordered Soft Machines Bundles (Tall el Zaatar) instead you straight away get my drift. And drift indeed is what you do when you sit back and appreciate these 6 delicious vocal free slices of rich Italian prog/fusion. The waiter had even sprinkled some Perigeo on top, you have to appreciate the country of origins cuisine first and foremost and had recommended a full bodied red...a nice Nucleus from the Weather Report vineyards to accompany. The subtle hint of Holdsworth spice brings out the best in the guitar sauce and the Elton Dean* reeds is a great garnish. And apart from the oh so obvious contradictions was that a clove of Miles Davis in Simbiosi....I think it was you know!

I can't pretend to be Egon Ronay (now there's a guy who has had more hot dinners than we've had ....errr....) but am sated, if not in a heavy in the belly way, and will be back for more soon. Although I might just decide on a dessert......excuse me waiter do you an iced Al Di Meola at all....?

*People really need (another PA omission sadly) to get/listen to Deans 1971 recording Just Us...or 'the long lost Soft Machine album' as my mate opined on an extended borrow of said lp...
