Having previously released two EPs and a single, Turkish progressive metal band Alkera released their debut album last year - a musically impressive concept album featuring strong compositions and masterful instrumentation. I can confidently say that this is the best progressive metal album ever to come out of my home country, Turkey. Although it can be difficult to get used to the fact that the vocals are in Turkish, the band included an English version of the track "Dilhun" as a bonus, signaling their potential to release songs in English in the future. When I saw them live during the Anatolian Prog Tour, their passion and ambition for music convinced me that they will continue to produce many more successful albums. Fans of bands like Dream Theater and Symphony X are sure to love Alkera - be sure to check them out!
