Sky lost another co-founder between Cadmium and this, John Williams electing to step away from the group, and rather than simply replace him the remaining four members decided to take the empty seat as an opportunity to experiment, working in a range of guest musicians here and there as the compositions demand. This actually ends up working quite well! There's an extra injection of energy that comes in here, a sense of the unexpected which hasn't really been around since Sky 2, and whilst it wouldn't endure, it did at least refresh the group's sound enough to make The Great Balloon Race decidedly worth it.
