2 stars Mount Stagnation.

This Dutch band started out full of energy and vitality, not to mention some great songs, on their two first albums. We have now reached their sixth album and it both feels and sounds like the band has stagnated.

Gone is the vitality, the good hooks and the good melodies. What we are left with is half baked ideas from a band looking backwards and is trying to make something out of ideas which does not fully works out. Climbing Mount Improbable feels like a half baked brown bread. The vocals sounds tired, the sound sounds tired and so does the guitars too.

In a long career, any bands will sooner or later hit the buffers and release a half baked product. Climbing Mount Improbable is just that album from this rather fine Dutch band. Get over it.
