4 stars KRAFTWERK's debut is one of groundbreaking albums in the beginning of the Krautrock scene. It was released in the same year as TANGERINE DREAM's "Electronic Meditation" for example. This album has some interesting instrumentation including a lot of acoustic instruments which were later abandoned for more electronic sound. This album has very experimental minimalistic music and avant-guarde sound explorations. This can be also said for their next album but later they transformed into pop electronica. Some parts of "Kraftwerk" contain too much gnashing sounds that can drive your neighbours crazy. There are also some less wild and more spaced-out parts for example in "Megaherz" - the standout track IMO. Conclusion: This album is very experimental and not recommended for the faint-hearted. This is maybe not as pleasant listening as their later albums but from a prog point of view this one is a krautrock classic!
