3 stars now it's difficult for me to judge a compilation as "Yesterdays". Because? Hmmm, because the music please me but it's clear that these aren't Yes in Yessound or Yesmagic but only a good band in the transition between Beat, POP and Prog, with good Prog moments and nothing more. Not because the music isn't good... Nothing of this... But because I prefer Yes with Wakeman and Howe (and Bruford or White).

The songs aren't bad, at all, but the start with Prog version or Simon & Garfunkel anthem (and evergreen, of course) "America" isn't a good start for me, because with Wakenan and Howe (and not with Kaye and Banks) and because this song is a poor Prog version of this song. The rest of album is from the first two Yes albums ("America" is from Atlantic compilation "The Age Of Atlantic"). The music is only a transitional music between Beat/ Brit POP and Prog, as Procol Harum and/or The Moody Blues. The strategy is this: "we are doing what the people are brought to understand". So Yes are at 50% of their potential. In every case "Dear Father" (that is only a promotional single for 2nd album) is a great Yessong (the first Yes evergreen?) but with an invadent orchestra. But that I love. The songs (not #1) are all Jon Anderson pennedsong (also with other writers) but in "Looking Around" jon isn't present.

So "Yesterdays" is only a compilation for who love Yes and transitional between Beat and Brit POP to full Prog music.
