7 TELEVISION COMMERCIALS

Short but so sweet. I think that this video is perfection in music and film. Radiohead have always been well known for making great videos but these are the best! Paranoid Android's video is a Beavis and Butthead-esque animated video about a fan who goes on a strange journey in a taxi. Radiohead watch from a bar table as he gets beaten up in the bar, he then climbs up a lampost and taken away by an angel in a helicopter whilst a fat naked guy chops the lampost down with an axe. The fat naked guy then accidently chops his limbs off and has to live the rest of his days as a cocoon in a bird's nest. A great video with an interestingly weird concept.

Street Spirit is probably the best video, shot in black and white it has some great shots tampering with time. One Radiohead member will be in normal time whilst the other is juxtaposed in "bullet time". Very good visuals. Look out for a random old man slicing his face off. He collects all his blood in a bucket, goes to chuck it on Thom Yorke but he goes into "bullet time" and dodges it. What a waste for the old guy! Brilliant video though.

No Surprises is shot without any studio tampering. Thom sits in a dimly lit booth that slowly fills with water, he holds his breathe for a while and then, well that's it. Trust me it looks a lot better than it sounds!

Just was shot in Oxford i think, yet for some strange reason there is an American police officer in the video. A man is on his way to work and suddenly decides to lay on the floor, whilst Radiohead are jamming in a nearby flat. A big crowd gathers wondering why the man is laying on the floor, the video uses subtitles for the characters speaking as the music plays over the top. The scene builds up really well and the man finally tells them why he is lying on the floor, but... as an ultimate cliffhanger ending, the subtitles do not appear on the screen and therefore nobody will ever know why he is lying here, a real kick in the teeth. After he explains, everybody starts lying on the floor! Rumour has it that the man says "this is the line for the Debhenams sale".

I never really get the video for High and Dry but it's amazingly done. Set in a diner with everyone singing along with the lyrics that apply to their own problems in life. This video is like a mini drama, it even has explosions.

Karma Police just has Thom being driven in the backseat of a posh car chasing some guy down a road. The criminal sets fire to the car yet Thom Yorke makes a miraculous escape. Again, this one looks a lot better than it sounds.

Fake Plastic Trees is a surreal shopping outing, no idea what is going on here but it's brillaint stuff. Something else that is good to look out for in all of these videos is that Thom Yorke makes a comical facial expression in each one! This is a brilliant video, a masterpiece of image and sound.
