3 stars This compact dist was a promotional release for retailers to use for in-store play. It covers the Residents' career up to 1995, or up through the album "The Gingerbread Man". Having only seventeen tracks, it cannot contain tracks from every album, but it does cover just about every aspect of what the eyeballs had recorded.

Some of the tracks are too obvious. I must have two or three other collections that all contain Hello Skinny, Mahogany Wood and their great James Brown cover This is a Man's Man's Man's World. But this collection also has some other choices that make it more interesting, particularly the two from "3rd Reich N' Roll", the bizarrely harsh Satisfaction, which should teach death growlers a lesson, and the amazing track pieced together from The Beatles' recordings, Beyond The Valley Of A Day In The Life.

I would still recommend the "Heaven?" and "Hell!" collections for those who want to begin their foray into The Residents. But if you find this one at a good price, go for it.
