4 stars Great effort for a first album. These guys deserve all the props they can get. The opening track "Sin" establishes their ability to lay down thick and chunk chops when they want to. Superior vocals throughout, especially on "Why Am I Here." Truly epic tracks like "Glory of the Empire" and "Imperial Destruction" show that this band can do it all: vocals, thick chops, sweet lead work, and plenty of tempo changes to keep us prog lovers interested. Fans of the prog metal and power prog genres will not be disappointed. Hats off to the boys of CIRCUS MAXIMUS for a noteworthy first album. I'll quote one reviewer who summed up the album in two words, "Bloody Brilliant." Enjoy!
