This EP was my introduction to the band, and I still have high regards for the first four tracks. The last track (Aztec Two-Step) are boring in a different way (ending of the album Chaosphere)... only this time because five minutes of silence ends with a noisy anti-climax lasting a second.

The rest is quite good... Metallica plagerism are gone, thrash speediness has evolved into a more slow and dense riffing. The flow found on the first two tracks (Humilative and Sickening) are for the most part seemless and build up a nice groove. Not as slow like some of the tracks on their later album Nothing, but equally well-knitted. Next track (Ritual) is more melodic and simple, featuring some nice playing by Thordendal. Following track (Gods of Rapture) are a hint to what their next full-lenght (Destroy Erase Improve) is all about, machine-gun riffing broked up by melodical interludes (in some cases synth added). The solo on this track has a jazzy feel (some noodling of course), but not as annoying compared with the noodling found on their next album.

Those who want to pick up this EP should buy the Contradictions Collapse reissue (see above about release information).
