Hey wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world AHHHHHHHHHHH !!!

I've considered myself somewhat of a Protest The Hero fan ever since I've heard Fortress a few years ago. That album has everything that I like so much about the current state of Metalcore/Mathcore genres and the band is definitely among the best young talents to emerge from the scene. The surely didn't waste much time and grabbed a steady grip around the torch that was passed on to them by the 80's giants like Black Flag, among others.

Unfortunately the current rise in this music scene has a few drawbacks. One of which is the fact that all these young bands can't help but draw influences from each other. One of such influences is the idea releasing these completely unnecessary remix EPs. I do realize that these releases are meant only for the hardcore fans, but I just don't see why any metal fan would enjoy listening to a dance remix of their favorite metal tunes, no matter if it's a band-licensed release or not! Other acts who are guilty of the same charge include the usual suspects like Between The Buried And Me, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Iwrestledabearonce.

The original version of Sequoia Throne might not have been the strongest track off Fortress but it's easily my favorite pick here! The two tunes leading up to Devin Townsend's 8 minute remix are completely unbearable and will more likely do more damage to you than good. Townsend's track is actually pretty bearable but still has no real purpose to it. So I really can't image recommending this release to anyone but the completionists.
