4 stars Not even twelve months have passed since the last Randone album "Nuvole di ieri" and this band from Sicily is back again. The new effort "Ricordo", released by Beppe Crovella's Electromantic label is musically quite similar to the previous one, also reaching more or less the same good level. If "Nuvole di ieri" was more homogeneous and all the good things were better distribuited, "Ricordo" concentrates all his beauty inside the wonderful opening song "Jill". It's about a twenty minutes beautiful song, written for a Colossus music project called "Spaghetti Epic" based on the most famous italian western film "Once Upon a Time In The West". Wow, what a sensational track !!! It's the highest peak of Randone's music, including Nicola's solo album. There are tons of different moods, vintage sounds made by Crovella and finally the beautiful voice of Maria Modica who find a wider space in this album. The other tracks are not as good as "Jill" even if "Ballata per un cantastorie" and "Giulia" have good melodies and a Nicola's deeper poetic vein. Overall, another good job by Randone even if it's mostly thanks to the attractive presence of "Jill" which, by itself, justifies money needed to buy the album.
