5 stars Recently I had the opportunity to have a digital copy of 'Flektogon', Nodo Gordiano third album released in 2009 and...wow! Great surprise. They deliver very good and particular music, in the vein of KC, not the recent ones, but with a very modern and high-trained attitude. Classical influnces as subtle as folk ones. The album begins with 'Theatro', the unique song, begins with some choir and then weird sounds until it explodes with a very interesting sequence of chords, like masses in rotation. The operatic singing alternates with heavy passages very well played and compact, then singing again and the coda that reconnects to the beginning. Great. 'Ozymandias' is divided into two parts, a great role for marimba and strange percussion instruments, the second part also contain a great drum solo and some veiled guitars running themselves one into other. The suite 'Avventure di Mastarna' is maybe the best epic heard in recent times. Complex, angular, but also jazzy, dreamy, oriental, I don't know how to define the beauty of passages of one section into the other. Top notch musicianship, sometimes cold, sometimes with a great live atmosphere. A piece of art. The album ends with 'Zeitgeist', a solid and intricate bass-guitar piece, beautiful and modern sounds, great drumming. The album is overall dark and sometimes sinister with episodes of avant-garde taste, but beautifully crafted and very inspiring. A great work.
