4 stars MGP were doubtlessly in the league of the SOFT MACHINE, so here much of the material is jazz-tinged. My first recommendation on you would be not to acquire the remaster (because pointless tracks from the 80's were added up at the end of the album ¦( The record sounds a bit like a cross between SM vol.2 and Third, augmented by Gerard Bertram on the guitar! To be honest, his guitar work is not a benchmark for anybody. But still, it is not unpleasant! The bass player is a carbone copy of Hugh Hopper--in sounding and virtuosity! Gerard Pons on drums runs the whole album at a frantic pace! Each composition has pleasant original tunes, but I don't rate it 5 stars, just because "Last song" indulges in a-4-minutes drums solo... hhmm! Et ca sent le deja-vu!

To me, it is an unsung jewel with these guys resuming the party where the Soft Machine left off.

I also prefer this album to its successor--looser in melodic structure, but "The World of Genius Hans" track is a milestone in prog-history! But I would need 300 lines to make a rightful assessment, but I can't be bothered! Just listen to it!
