IL PAESE DEI BALOCCHI

One of the more forgettable Italian one-shot albums of the 70's. This one features orchestrations (live ones) alongside some rather dated organ-rock. It's all made up largely of short songs, arranged in suite form with little linking bits as the musical glue holding it all together. Reminds me more of the Moody Blues than of anything Italian, it has the same "airy, orchestrated psychedelic oop" vibe I get from them.

There's really nothing wrong with the album. The musicians are all fine players and the singing is nice. But it's never much more than merely "nice". It comes across as rather bland, and just kind of drifts off into the ionosphere. Someone else said they forgot it was playing whenever they had it on, and that's exactly the same feeling I get with this. Competently made, yet ultimately pretty dull.
