5 stars If you didn't know that Randone comes from Sicily, now you know. The latest album "Hybla Act.1" is a "baroque opera" telling the story of the old sicilian city of Ragusa, that is Hybla. I deeply like the albums where I can find true historical facts and this album is not an exeption. If you share this passion you will be happy to know that the rich (and really nice) booklet tells the story from the beginning until the earthquake who destroyed the great Hybla. Musically, this album starts from an overall italian progressive rock vein (as shown in the prevoius albums) but immediately it goes beyond, towards so different directions. Sicily, you know, has been conquered by foreign people many times in its history, so it's not strange if "Hybla" holds inside spanish guitars, oriental echoes, medieval atmospheres. The album features 25 short tracks, each one different from the each others. I think you should free your mind from any strict definition of italian progressive rock 'cause this album is much more. This is the most ambitious of the three Randone's works and absolutely recommended.
