5 stars If you only purchase one KRAFTWERK lp in your lifetime, then this is THE one to get! I remember when this came out and was advertised as a "new kind of beautiful",which it is! Some may call the sound on this one repetitive, but I would call it mesmerizing. More beat driven than just about any electronica that was being produced at the time period, this lp is a forerunner to todays club mix and house music. So much so that this l, as well as TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS, have been heavily sampled for years now.I had the good fortune to catch these guys live on the AUTOBAHN tour. The first show on the U.S. tour in 1974. They seemed a bit nervous and the audience of only around 1,000 souls, wasn't really sure what to expect, since this was a new kind of music,at least for most of us.As the show opened with COMET MELODY 1 everyone knew right then that this was going to be one hell of a show, which it was. KRAFTWERK proceeded to blow the house away!I was surprised at just how LOUD 4 guys with synths could get.The whole lp was performed live including a super long version (about 20 - 25 min.) of MIDNIGHT. I was lucky to be there to see this live! As PINK FLOYD would say "WISH YOU WERE HERE"(there) too!
