2 stars The comeback was just around the corner, but there was a way to go yet before it arrived. Mirrors catches the Cult in the act of trying to stop "goin' through the motions" as they had on Spectres and learning to rock out again. I Am the Storm even suggests, in a mild way, the sheer power the band used to take for granted in their classic days. But lifeless dirges like The Great Sun Jester or In Thee sap the album of any momentum it manages to establish, and Doctor Music sounds like a rejected KISS song. And you know you're not going well when you sound worse than KISS did in 1979.
