4 stars This is surely great start for these psychedelic rock legends, and I might suspect that this was also kind of early post rock album, too. Chemistry between instrumentalists, composition of the album, and overall atmosphere is really seductive. Really cool sound is given by roaring guitar, and excellent keyboard playing. There are some pieces which could have been better, and sometimes psychedelic atmosphere does not really work enough well. The most rememberable part are first two tracks after the intro, Astronaut's nightmare and Countenance. Roye Albrighton is surely one of the most underrated guitarists out there, and vocals are infectious too, reminding a bit to Greg Lake, but with their own identity and taste. Surely excellent addition to any collection of the greatest 20 century rock albums.
