4 stars "Incantations"! Just love this one! A four track album (with one track on each of the four sides on the LP-version). The album forms a completely homogenic unit (in a very positive way). Maddy Prior's singing together with the slow-going rhythms gives an ecstatic but melancholic atmosphere. On "Incantations" the music is allowed to take it's time, nothing is rushed. Rhythms is created in extraordinary delicate ways, and it sounds so simple! Thats what fashinates me about this album. With minimal gestures the music gets a firm grip of the listener. If you haven't tried "Incantations", do yourself a favour and get this! Really strong four stars!!!
