2 stars 2,5 stars really!

This is the latest reunion album of EOE, reuniting the three main men of the early albums: Arbus, Caines and Nicholson. So expectations were good at the future release announcement but as you pick the album in your hand, the first deception arises: drum programming, guitar and bass synths.. Not a good sign you'll agree.

Musically what we have in this disc is a bunch of jazz compositions mostly penned by Nicholson and Caines. Arbus provides no tracks. This odd release is quite a surprise for someone hoping to find even the smallest hint of their previous glorious past. You will be in for a deception if you do, but this does not mean the album is bad, far from it. But the rather standard and wise jazz or jazz rock, however good and well executed, lacks warmth, enthusiasm and dare I say it: interest. Another rather bad point is that the synthesized instruments are not able to make themselves forgotten. It is all too evident in the strict observance of instrumental roles as Dave Arbus sticks to his violin (and is rather tamed at it too) instead of switching from strings to winds as he usually did!

Not really an album worth investigating unless you are an absolute and unconditional fan of East Of Eden as this album has not much to do with it. Still not bad album, though - just pointless, especially under that name.
