5 stars having listened to the bulk of the PT archive for the first time during 2005, this is one of the three that stand out for me (the others being Deadwing & Sky Moves Sideways - although the latter is perhaps slightly fading now - and they are all great for different reasons - & completely different to each other ... i'm not a fan of In Absentia). This feels like a complete listening experience, taking you through real life, but on the back of excellent songs with stunning musicianship. Previous reviewers have already listed the key moments - Lightbulb Sun, Shesmovedon/last chance and Russia On Ice, but the rest is not just a supporting cast, it transporst you across the landscape of real life from one highlight to the next. incredibly sad in places, but in totality an object of outstanding beauty. I have it on my car system at the moment, with several other artists - i keep flipping back to it - why should I listen to anything else if Lightbulb Sun is there. Not many bands have more than one essential album. with Lightbulb Sun and Deadwing, Porcupine Tree have joined the greats.
