Wasa Express disbanding in 1980 after the Schack Matt album from 1979, each musician involved in the first phase of the band tried diffrent bands and musicians across the years, untill the main man of the band the drumer Åke Eriksson decided to re form this great and underrated outfit in 2002. Thir first album in new format was released in 2004 named Psychedelic Jazz Trance. Well I was shocked to see how unnoticed this album is, really sad, this might be one of the thighest and solid progressive/jazz fusion albums I've ever come across. Simply stunning release, the musicianship is unbelivable solid and intristing. All album is instrumental with 2 exceptions of some dreamy operatic vocals from Susanne Stojkov, clocking around 50 min and is a pute bliss from start to finish. Åke Eriksson who is in a big form even is well ok in his fifties here gathered around him a bunch of excellent musicicns who really knew how to make this damn catchy and inovative The perfect examples are the opening track Psychedelic jazz trance , the guitar and druming here is brilliant, Afrodisiac, the turbulent The gate to Lohengrin, what a piece truly awesome and the gentle and beautiful dreamy as title implies of Gentle waves through outer space , stunning combination on this one between dreamy female operatic voice with the instrumental that goes jazzy space rock. One of the most solid albums from jazz fusion I know and yet totaly unnoticed by larger public. Highly recommended, if their first album selftitled from 1977 I simply love this one is very close, a mature album and a very good come back of this legendary band, but I think only in Sweden are well known because outside only few heared their excellent work. 4 stars for sure, very strong album and well performed.
