KINGS OF TIME

Magyar Posse's Kings of Time is a reasonable enough effort, but I felt that it's a bit too much of a rehash of their first album to really engage me. It's not that it's a bad album per se - but I suspect many listeners will find themselves preferring whichever one they happened to hear first. The main difference is that, to my ears at least, the band seem to be edging a bit closer to what I'd think of as a "standard" post-rock sound - you know, the sort of thing Explosions In the Sky and other bands who follow the Godspeed/Mogwai model without really having anything particularly clever to say for themselves play.
