BIG GENERATOR

After the wonderful 90125 for which I have given 5 stars, came this album. I have to say that when it came out I wasn't really impressed with it but then it grew on me and at one point didn't leave my player for a long time. Of course it's not the Yes sound of the 70s but who needss a band that keeps re-writing the same album over and over? This is pure 80s rock with VERY good songs; some of them even excellent. It is a step further towards a more polished sound and Trevor Horn has done a wonderful production job again. This man is a genius. The music is so rich, in an 80s way, that you keep discovering things you haven't heard before every time you listen to it, and this makes listening to the album more and more interesting with every new listen, which is why some people dismiss it before giving it a chance. I personally think it's FAR better than some of the stuff they did in the 90s (which is supposed to be the revival of the "classic" Yes sound). I'll give it 4.5 stars.
