3 stars I really like Neil Morse's music. There's a strong feel for melody and arranging. This man puts his heart into the music and that's very rare in the modern music world. I'm not his biggest fan though as I am not the biggest fan of his former Spock's Beard- band. I buy their records, listen to them every now and then when I'm in the mood, like it and that's it. Their are others in the progressive field that I like better but that's just my personal preference. One thing I have to say in general. I would much more enjoy both their music if it wasn't so badly recorded and/or mastered. I think especially progressive rock with all it's detailed and multi-layered arrangements deserves to be recorded and mastered like for example jazz or classical music. Imagine how good "Testimony" that I am just listening to could sound had it been more carefully mastered. Sorry to say it but this record sounds flat to me. Hearing it with the volume turned up gets annoying very fast except for the quiet passages. Put your heart into the mastering, Neil (and other colleagues) !
