5 stars This review is a tribute to the late Rick Van Der Linden, a both national as worldwide acclaimed keyboard player who got inspired by a The Nice performance in The Netherlands and then decided to play classical rock music. On this very comprehensive compilation we can enjoy the great sound of Dutch masters Ekseption, based upon the very distinctive blend of brass elements (trumpet, clarinet, saxophone) and the virtuosic and varied keyboard work by Rick: sparkling piano and powerful Hammond waves in The 5th, jazzy piano and beautiful harpsichord in Air, exciting interplay between keyboards (Hammond and piano) and brass (trumpet and saxophone) in the dynamic Rondo, a wonderful overdub of virtuosic Hammond and sparkling harpsichord in Peace Planet and majestic work on Rick his beloved church organ in Adagio, Siciliano In G and Toccata In D-Fuga. The climates alternate from mellow and emotional in Adagio to bombastic in Rhapsody In Blue and Toccata and a very catchy up-tempo rhythm featuring sensational interplay between piano and brass instruments. THIS CD DELIVERS THE BEST PROGROCK FROM THE NETHERLANDS, THANKS RICK!!
