4 stars The Black Halo is one of my favorite power metal albums. The main reason for that is it`s completeness. It does not have a single bad track.

This is Kamelot`s best album so far. The first time I heard this I did not like "The March Of Mephisto" very much, but after a few listens it became better. Dimmu Borgir vocalist Sagrath does a guest preformance here, and does what he is expected to do. The album explodes with "When the Lights Are Down", and after that "The Haunting (Somewhere in Time) follows. The album just keeps getting better and better after that. The musicianship is great, ecspesially Roy Khan`s voice. He is on of the best vocalists in power metal. I don`t think this is a very original album, defenitly not groundbreaking in any way. But Kamelot manages to make something that avoids the worst power metal cliches. The songs are great, the lyrics are good, and so are the musicians. I do not consider this a masterpiece, but it is a great album.
