5 stars Third Di Meola album shows all the riches of his musical talent and skill. He will also show ability to assemble musicians which will consistently follow his musical ideas and transform them in sheer jazz-rock brilliance. The album opens with 'Flight Over Rio' where powerful bass introduces leading theme soon to be taken over by Di Meola furious guitar; this is the only track not written by Di Meola but which perfectly fits to whole album tune. Then follows 'Midnight Tango' offering easier tempo with beautiful latino mood; so we come to the absolute highlight of the album 'Mediterranean Sundance' - on the right channel we have 1st acoustic guitar played by Di Meola, on the left one 2nd acoustic giutar played by guest star Paco De Lucia. Since I prefer analog sound, I'm usually listening a record and always have a feeling that these two masters of guitar are in my room and playing it just for me.Side two of the record beginns with 'Race With The Devil On Spanish Highway' with its irradic change of tempo and occasionally high flying guitar solos;then a short brake in relaxing 'Lady Of Rome,Sister Of Brazil' and closing 'Elegant Gypsy Suite' which comprises all afore mentioned qualities of this album. This is superb jazz-rock with latino flare.
