3 stars After the great succes of Sgt. Peppers the Beatles made this Magical Mystery Tour which was made for the same titled movie. The hit machinery "The Beatles" delivered another handful of hits like "Magical Mystery Tour", "The Fool on the Hill", "I am the Walrus", "Strawberry Fields" and "All You need is Love".

While "I am the Walrus" may be the best track The Beatles ever made I'm not too fond of all those other hits. The tracks that stayed relatively unknown like "Flying" and "Blue Jay Way" sound like filler tracks and some of the tracks are catchy, but very simple like "Your mother should know".

In many aspects this record is inferior to the Sgt. Peppers, like the album structures, average song quality, innovatory elements, album cover and so on an on.

This is a good record, but for people like me who didn't grew up with the Beatles (all-right, my dad is a huge fan, so I've also heard a lot of the Beatles in my youth) this work can't be called essential or even recommended. The psychedelic scene did offer much better works in my opinion and within the psychedelic scene this is just an average pop-album. Three stars.
