VAPOR TRAILS

I honestly have no idea what the band was thinking when releasing this album. This is so far removed from the Rush of the late 70's and early 80's it might as well be a different band. The heavier, almost alternative rock approach does nothing for me. The songs are not very good at all. But this is a moot point when considering the absolutely atrocious production job on this album. Everything is so severely compressed and muddied to the point it is practically unlistenable. Maybe it was a product of the loudness war, as their later albums certainly have a similar problem, even if a bit less so. Regardless, this is not an acceptable album especially considering the masterpieces Rush released in the 70's and 80's.
