5 stars For some reason, this was an album i really shrugged off for a long time and that i have it i totally regreat doing that. At one time i just thought that KAMELOT was your regular bland Power Metal Band like Sonata Arctica and well just them i guess lol. But i dare say i sure underestimated KAMELOT has they have not only Power Metal in them but with a dash of Prog Metal along with some melodic chorus to give that certain spark in their music that is a total standout to most other power metal bands. (except for Rhapsody since they are hardcore about that stuff). Anyway THE BLACK HALO is def. KAMELOT's finest album ever this goes well with other power metal late realease like ANGRA'S TEMPLE OF SHADOWS and HELLOWEEN'S THE KEEPER OF SECRET KEYS: THE LEGACY. As you've got some great songs like MARCH OF MEPHISTO, THE BLACK HALO, MEMENTO MORE....AH SHOOT all the songs are great as each song has power, melody, prog, and every little to keep you on your toes. Plus the whole does a great job with their style with KHAH very deep but clean voice. I really like his voice its not as high pitched as other power metal singers but that doesn't mean he can wail cause he sure can when things get pretty mellow. Youngblood does a sweel job on guitar not being too showy but i will admit he is the best guitarist i've ever heard at HARMONICS cause he does those like crazy espeically in WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN. and plus you have the rhythm section GRILLO and BARRY as at times they seem power metal but know when their limits are which is nice. Overall this is a great band along with a few guest like my favorite keyboardist JENS JOHANSSAN i think that's how you spell it. Anyway this is definitely a great album and it got alot of publicity not to mention it got BEST POWER METAL ALBUM OF 2005 in certain articles. a grand five star effort by the all so mighty KAMELOT.
