2 stars Having read a lot of good reviews of this Italian progressive 70's band, decided to get something to hear from them, but the only CD that I have found was "Antologia". Well, said to myself, it's the essence. But was it?

First thing upon putting it in CD player, was "What!? Only 43 minutes!" It was really odd to me for a 1996 compilation of more than 30 year old group. OK, this is not "the best of", this is not "greatest hits", and now I think that this is not even "antologia", but a song collection made in a hurry, by means of method unknown to me. So, what I get is what I have, so let's go to the music.

And the music is interesting. The first impression was, of course, the inevitable Italian origin of it. It reminded me of many Italian canzones that I had opportunity to listen to many years, since I had lived in country next to Italy (unfortunately no more). The melodies, expressive and loud style of singing, choice of some renaissance instruments, everything. At some moments I had a reminiscence of music from some Italian movies. The dominant instruments are the ones with keyboards, with help of fine percussions, bass, drums and aforementioned Italian spices, all crafted with progressive touch. Two most significant songs are beautiful 8 minutes "750.000 anni fa.l'amore?" and strong 9 minutes serious music influenced "Io vivo (fusione per trenta elementi)". Two short 2 minutes songs are intriguing but are maybe pulled out as being part of some longer suites, while others are good, but not essential.

Well, one for the money, two for the show, three for the music, but after some reconsidering two for the whole. Probably the best choice is to take advice from senior prog reviewers and find out some of their first three records.
